How does a router function?

The role of a router is to draw the correct route information should follow to be forwarded from one network to another and this is why it is called a router. It is a very important device because it makes the communication between the internet and the computer easier. When the data is being sent from one network to another it is divided into small pieces, which, in networks language, are named packets. The router’s function is to lead those packets to the right address they have to reach.

There are two kinds of routers: Dynamic and static. The dynamic router has its previous programming within a specific protocol but the static one needs to be manually programmed.

Some routers are specifically made to provide users with security services that would not permit to hackers to use any personal information because it scans the data before driving it to the destination network.
